- Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly butter or spray a 9x9-inch baking dish.
- Mix the filling: In a large bowl, toss apples and pears with vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and brown sugar until evenly coated. Spread evenly in the baking dish.
- Make the topping: In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cut in the butter using a fork or your fingers until crumbly.
- Assemble: Sprinkle the topping evenly over the fruit mixture.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.
- Cool slightly before serving. Delicious warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream!
