Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup black cherries (pitted and halved; fresh or frozen)
  • ¼ cup brewed coffee (cooled)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch salt

Equipment

  • Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker You can use any Ice Cream Maker

Method

  1. Prep the Coffee Base: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, vanilla extract, brewed coffee, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  2. Prepare the Black Cherries: If using fresh cherries, pit and halve them. For a swirl effect, mash a few cherries with a fork or blend briefly to create a chunky puree. Pulsing in a blender also works well.
  3. Churn the Ice Cream: Pour the chilled coffee mixture into the ice cream maker and churn for about 15–20 minutes, or until it begins to thicken
  4. Add the Black Cherries: During the last 5 minutes of churning, add the halved cherries and any cherry puree (if desired) to the mixture. Allow them to mix in evenly.
  5. Freeze and Set: Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container. Cover and freeze for at least 2–3 hours for a firmer texture.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Scoop into bowls or cones and enjoy your delicious homemade Black Cherry Coffee Ice Cream!

Notes

Tips:

  • To enhance the flavor, you can add a teaspoon of instant espresso powder to the coffee base.
  • If you prefer a creamier consistency, increase the heavy cream to 1 1/2 cups and reduce the milk to 1/2 cup.
