  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon divided
  • ¾ cup quick oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg divided
  • ½ cup unsalted butter

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the apples: Peel, core, and slice the Snap Dragon and Honey Crisp apples into thin slices. Place them in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Sweeten the apples: Toss the sliced apples with ½ cup sugar, ½ tbsp cinnamon, and ¼ tsp ground nutmeg until evenly coated. Spread the apple mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Make the crisp topping: In a separate bowl, combine quick oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, remaining ½ tbsp cinnamon, and ¼ tsp nutmeg. Mix well.
  5. Cut in the butter: Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut ½ cup unsalted butter into the dry mixture until it forms coarse crumbs.
  6. Assemble and bake: Evenly sprinkle the topping over the apples. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender
  7. Cool and serve: Let the apple crisp cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream!
