  • ½ cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix ingredients: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, ketchup, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined; overmixing can make the meatloaf dense.
  3. Shape the loaf: Transfer the mixture to a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet. Shape it into a loaf or place it into a greased loaf pan.
  4. Add topping: Spread a thin layer of ketchup over the top of the meatloaf for extra flavor and moisture.
  5. Bake: Place the meatloaf in the oven and bake for about 45 minutes.
  6. Rest and serve: Let the meatloaf rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
