Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp pure peppermint extract
  • A few drops of green food coloring (optional)
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips or finely chopped chocolate

Equipment

  • Ice Cream Maker

Method

  1. Prepare the base: In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream and sugar until the sugar dissolves completely.
  2. Add the peppermint extract and green food coloring: Stir in the extract until well combined. Add a few drops of green food coloring and stir.
  3. Churn the ice cream: Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker and churn for 25 minutes.
  4. Add the Chocolate Chips: In the last 5 minutes of churning, gradually add the mini chocolate chips or chopped chocolate, allowing them to mix evenly.
  5. Freeze to Firm: Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container. Smooth the top with a spatula, then press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface to prevent ice crystals. Freeze for at least 2 hours or until firm.
