Chocolate Chip Waffles
These easy Chocolate Chip Waffles are a sweet, protein-packed breakfast perfect for busy mornings or weekend treats!
Equipment
- Waffle Maker I prefer Belgium over traditional
Ingredients
- 1⅓ cups water
- 2 large eggs
- ⅓ cup oil (vegetable or canola oil works well)
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 cup protein powder (optional, use plain or vanilla for best results)
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat Waffle Iron: Turn on your waffle iron to preheat while you prepare the batter.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the water, eggs, oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, protein powder (if using), and cinnamon.
- Make the Batter: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the batter can have a few lumps
- Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold the chocolate chips into the batter.
- Cook the Waffles: Lightly grease or spray the waffle iron if needed. Pour the batter into the waffle iron, using enough to fill the surface without overflowing. Close the waffle iron and cook for 2-5 minutes, or until the waffles are golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve: Serve warm with your favorite toppings, such as syrup, whipped cream, fresh fruit, or even a sprinkle of powdered sugar (Swaggy's Favorite).
Notes
If the batter feels too thick (especially if using protein powder), add a tablespoon of water at a time to thin it out slightly.
The protein powder is optional but will add a boost of nutrition and texture to the waffles.
Enjoy your hearty and delicious chocolate chip waffles!
